Albuquerque

Today was our evaluation with the Gastroenterologist and Nutritionist.  They asked for his entire life history, which isn't too long, and we talked about his eating habits, weight gain, what he eats and doesn't eat, his stools and how often...a very complete exam!  The PA prescribed a different reflux medication (Prilosec or Prevacid, I can't remember) to address the heartburn since he doesn't have much spitting up anymore.  They are going to do a swallow study with a Speech Pathologist present for consultation, to make sure his anatomy is in proper working order.  They also drew blood to do an allergy test.  The nutritionist gave me some great suggestions on helping to eat better and where to back off or keep going strong.

On a side note, he weighed 17.5 pounds!!  Today was a good start and in a few weeks we'll have more answers.

  1. Hey - sounds like you guys are on the right track. I am a speech pathologist, so if you want more information about the swallowing study they will be doing, just let me know. I hope you guys have all the answers you need soon. Glad that you are at least this one step closer!
