Sweet Days

Owynn brings light and love and hope to all of my days.  He smiles and I can't help but join him!  That's not to say we aren't having our share of tantrums but usually they are short lived.  I'm learning to give him a choice instead of letting him say, "no" 75 times.  There are lots of stories that I forget to tell y'all so I'll work on writing them down before I forget.

We all know he loves to sing.  He can now sing all of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."  And he does it when he's supposed to be sleeping.  It's the sweetest thing!

And he loves books.  He can now read to himself in the dark!  Isn't that amazing?!  I kid.  We have read Bedtime for Tad so often that he can recite some pages while he should be sleeping.

I recently moved all of his snacks/milk/juice, etc. to a Lazy Suzanne that's at his level.  So at mealtimes we stand there and I ask, "Do you want cereal?" and he says, "no."  Because that's what two-year-olds say.  The dance goes on until he says yes to something.  We make it around 5 times every once in a while.  One day, he was looking through the cabinet and was having the whole conversation with himself.  "Do you waaaan squeezy? No.  Do you waaaan cereal?  No.  Do you waaaan juice?  No."  He changed his voice for the answers.  It was SO cute and funny.  He, of course, stopped before I could get the camera out.

Look closely...you will see a pair of shoes put on by Owynn...on the wrong feet.
This past weekend, Owynn came home counting in Spanish.  I was surprised.  And excited!  His teachers, at school, speak Spanish to each other and I know the kids pick up on that.  Obviously, since he was counting "tres, cinco, seben, eight."  And speaking of school: I had a conference with his teachers last week.  I know.  Conferences in Daycare!  But, it's fun.  His teachers were surprised to figure out that he knows his letters.  And colors.  And numbers up to 20.  And shapes.  But they were more surprised by the letters.  There's a rug outside that has the letters and they heard him naming them while hanging out.  This mommy was proud!

We have no advancement or news in the potty training world.  He tells me when he's peeing and pooping but there's no forewarning.  Someday.

We saw the doctor A LOT during the months of September and October.  It started with a snotty nose that lead to fevers.  Verdict: virus, which meant nothing but Tylenol for fever.  A week went by and the fevers hadn't gone away.  Another trip = just a virus.  Finally, a few weeks later (fevers had subsided but his nose was still runny) I sent Owynn to the doctor with Grandad for the impetigo and sinus infection.  Then, we went for his 2 year check up.  He's almost 3 feet tall!!!  He still is on the thin side but there's not much concern because he still gets taller and his brain is, obviously growing!  The next week, we went back to check up on the sinus infection.  And then we went and saw the allergist, upon the recommendation of the pediatrician.  They did another skin test and he didn't have strong enough reactions to be considered allergic to common allergens.  The thought is that he's getting all the viruses his friends bring to school and he'll stop being the victim soon.  That would be lovely!

Much love to all!
And then, some days, he chooses his own shoes and won't let me help change them.

Playing basketball with a soccer ball

A different day...non-matching shoes and a Christmas shirt.  He cracks me up!

Sweet, sweet boy!
